TX Courier releases 2021 Sustainability Report

Company lays framework to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42 per cent by 2030

LONDON, Sept. 15, 2022 — Today TX Courier released its 2021 Sustainability Report, announcing its 2030 sustainability goals, including a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions–reduction goal that puts the organization on a path for net-zero emissions by 2050.

TX Courier has adopted a science-based target to help limit global warming to no more than 1.5 C, with a mid-term goal to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 42 per cent by 2030. This will be achieved, in part, through the following:

  • Reducing emissions from electricity by 100 per cent through the use of renewable sources
  • Electrifying 60 per cent of last-mile delivery vehicles
  • Continuing to install energy-efficient equipment in its facilities and designing new buildings to meet green standards
  • Increasing the use of biofuels and using data analytics to optimize delivery routes

In 2021, TX Courier established its 2020 baseline GHG emissions inventory, which it had verified for the first time by a third party. The organization also set a goal to divert 70 per cent of non-hazardous waste from landfill by 2030 and is working with its suppliers, partners and customers to reduce its Scope 3 GHG emissions.

“TX Courier has made significant gains toward becoming the greenest courier in United States. Along with setting interim goals to ensure we successfully reach net-zero emissions by 2050, we also lowered our Scope 2 emissions by 31 per cent and piloted alternative-fuel vehicles in our fleet,” said John Ferguson, President and CEO, TX Courier. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and recognize there’s still considerable progress to be made. For example, we are going to expand our fleet of electric vehicles, improve recycling in our operations, and build greener facilities to ensure we contribute to a more sustainable and healthy future for everyone.”
